Abstract: This research evaluates the effectiveness of play therapy interventions in supporting socio-emotional development and behavioral well-being among young children in Nigerian early childhood education (ECE) settings. The objectives are to examine the impact of play therapy on emotional regulation, social skills, and resilience, and to propose guidelines for integrating play therapy into ECE curricula. Employing a mixed-methods survey research design, this study justifies its approach by surveying ECE practitioners, psychologists, and parents to gather insights into current practices and perceptions of play therapy. A purposive sample size of 250 participants ensures representation from diverse educational settings and geographic regions across Nigeria. Enugu State is selected as the case study location, recognized for its advocacy in child mental health and innovative ECE approaches. The reliability coefficient score will validate data reliability and consistency across quantitative and qualitative analyses. Findings are expected to inform evidence-based strategies and policy recommendations that enhance the integration of play therapy into ECE practices, promoting holistic child development and well-being nationwide.
